Free admission to The Art Institute of Chicago compliments of Target

August 11, 2009

Art Institute Modern Wing
Madison may be full of wonderful, free or almost-free activities, but sometimes people just have to hit the road and explore another place…

Are you interested in visiting the newly opened Modern Wing at the Art Institute in Chicago, but a bit aghast at the $18 adult admission price?

Then consider visiting on a Thursday or Friday evening between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. when admission is free, courtesy of Target stores.

From now through September 4, 2009, Target is sponsoring “Target Free Summer Evenings” at the Art Institute.

Target stores are big supporters of the arts, sponsoring more than 2,200 free and reduced priced events each year.

TargetAlas, none of these events are in Wisconsin. If, however, you’re planning to visit Chicago before Labor Day, you may want to check the Arts+Culture page of the Target website to obtain details about other freebies and deals, including 2 for 1 tickets to Lookingglass Theatre (one of its ensemble members is David Schwimmer).

You may also search the website for Target-sponsored arts events in other major cities, including Denver, Minneapolis, San Francisco, and New York.
