UW School of Music Brochure
If you love classical music but can’t afford to enjoy it as often as you’d like, there’s good news inside the front cover of the UW-Madison School of Music’s fall brochure: The entire Faculty Concert Series is FREE this season.

“We feel that great music is such a constant positive force in out society that we do not want anyone to miss an important musical experience due to the cost of a ticket,” writes John Wm. Schaffer, the School of Music’s Director. “Therefore, we are suspending the admission charges for the Faculty Concert Series this season as a special gift to the community, to insure that everyone may enjoy some of the best music making Wisconsin has to offer”

The Faculty Concert Series begins with the 33rd Karp Family Opening Concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, September 7th in Mills Hall in the Humanities Building on the UW-Madison campus. It will feature five members of the Karp family – Howard and Frances Karp, piano; Parry Karp, violincello; Parry’s wife, Katrin Talbot, viola; and Christopher Karp, violin. Joining them will be Suzanne Beia, violin.

Note: Money from ticket revenue for this concert series has, in the past, gone to scholarship support for music students. “If you find yourself financially able,” writes Schaffer, “we simply ask that you consider donating the funds you would have spent on season tickets to the School of Music scholarship fund.”
